for Fire Weather: A True Story From A Hotter World
by John Vaillant

Audiobook Samples by Alan Carlson

Hi, I’m Alan.

When I was a kid I had a very clear vision of what I wanted to be. I was going to be on the radio. And I did it. And I loved it. But for a variety of reasons my romance with radio was ultimately brief and I had to break it off.

Like any romance, though, radio left me a changed person. It ignited in me a love of communication and storytelling, of sound and connecting through words, and just being real with the listener. In radio, I spent time as both an announcer and a producer. Those two roles helped me gain control over my voice, learn how to give and receive direction and to self-direct, and develop an ear for how a read is supposed sound.

These days, when I’m not chasing down my two kids and a dog through the Canadian wilderness, I’m lucky enough to be building a career sharing stories and communicating ideas through audiobooks.

RECOGNITION:

Beneath the Neon by Matthew O'Brien

"Beneath the Neon was a detailed, incredible look at the underbelly of Las Vegas life. This audiobook is a must listen…. Alan Carlson gave these people a voice. He did an amazing job narrating this audiobook. Each person that was interviewed had a distinct personality and as I listened I could almost picture them. It was all absolutely outstanding."

Fiction (Romance)
Stolen Heir - Brutal Birthright, Book 2 by Sophie Lark

"Miko really made the book for me and I also enjoyed the suspense and follow on of events between the Polish, Irish, Italian and Russian Crime Families. Alan Carlson did a fantastic job narrating the male voices and multiple accents."

Rachel

Fiction (Horror)
Rag Doll BoneS by J.R. Erickson

"The story is addictive and I could not stop listening to it. The narration was perfect for the story. Alan added good tonality and tempo variation in the scenes to change the levels of suspense as required. This is an absolute must read."

Milica

FICTION (HORROR)
LET HER REST BY J.R. ERICKSON

“Alan Carlson, who narrated, gives a fine performance, his reading clear, well modulated but unintrusive, without over emphasis, letting the reader fill in the emotional content of the text. His background approach somehow emphasises and makes all the more dramatic what is written. He also gives individual voice to each character….. Well written and expertly read, this was a most enjoyable book.”
